Coloring tutorial: No- lines technique

Hi friends,
Here's a coloring tutorial I made for Copic Marker Norge, on how to use the no-lines technique. If you want to read it in Norwegian, just pop over there
The whole clue is to stamp an image using lighter ink, like light brown or gray, to get the lines as invisible as possible.
If you love digi's like I do, it's just as easy to lighten the image before printing. I do it in Word on my computer.

Here's my finished card.
The papers are Maja Design, Flowers by Kort og Godt, Hobbykunst and WOC. Dies by Tim Holtz (bird and cage) Memorybox (swirl) and Spellbinders (oval and scalloped oval). Sentiment is part of the Flower Fairies set, I used the no-lines technique on that too.

Here's how I color the image
Flower Fairies by Wee Stamps/Sylvia Zet.

I start by coloring the skin-parts of my image using E000. Then E11 where I want the darkest shadows.  Then blend with E21 and E000 again.

Next I go over the darkest shadows using E13 this time, E11 again-  and finally all the skin colors again. I added E00 for a smother blend. I keep layering the color until I am satisfied with the blend, hthe more layers the better the blend. But also you have to stop before your paper is full off ink. Try 1 or 2 times, and see if you are happy with it.

On to  hair color. I start by using E55, flicking in the direction of the lines on the image. I go on using E53 and E50. Then on to E57 to make the deepest shadows...

Then back to E55, 53 and finally E50.
On the dress I start with BG72 where I want the deepest shadow, then I use the the darkest marker BG75, and BG72 again. Next my homemade BG71, and finally BG70. I go over the dress several times using all 4 markers. The flowers are colored in the same way using BV23-25-23- 20, and leaves G43-46-43- 40. I start with the middle tone, then the darkest marker, the middle tone and then the lightest one.
Same thing with the pink markers R83-85-83-81 and with the greay W3-5-3-1-00 on the collar and the wings. And finally with the yellow YR21-24-21-20.  When I am happy with the blending I draw on the details using Copic Multiliner Gray 0,3. You don't want to use a black pen as it will be too defined and break the soft look.

These are all the markers used:

And BG71 wich I blended myself using BG70  and BG72 refills and an empty marker :)

Hope you are inspired to give it a try!
